Meet Leo

Meet Leo — are newest furry addition to the family — joining our 2-yr-old part Maine Coon kitty Teddy (they look like twins, no? — except for the fact that Leo is already substantially larger than Teddy, and still technically a kitten). Leo is a 9-month-old black Norwegian Forest cat with grey accents (gosh I love that breed name — sounds very romantic and a perfect match for our Maine home in the woods). We adopted him from the shelter just over a week ago. He is already huge and due to the nature of his breed will continue to grow for another year or two. I am in love with this soon-to-be enormous, black forest cat. Leo’s paws are quite big and he is such a gentle giant. The claws stay inside. They have not come out since he came home to us. Not even to his new brother. The adjustment so far has not been easy, believe me, as we have two male cats competing for alpha. Today was the first day we could actually bring them together in the same space for extended periods of time. There is plenty of wrestling, flying fur, and chasing, but no claws, no more growls, no more posturing. Mostly tackling and rolling, pausing, gazing at each other (I hear cheesy love songs in my head when they do this, like “Finally Found You”), napping, and occasional kisses. This can only get better between them methinks. Storm Q (who named this one?) has been coating our woods in the most glorious powder white. A complimentary backdrop for finding peace in our home…Thank you for stopping by Lovelies. I have been making some DIY cat toys to help my boys adjust. One of the toys has proven to be a winner — I’ll share it with you on Friday! XO
