bittersweet summer’s end

We are savoring the last treasures of summer. The final beach days; splashing, playing, laughing in the sparkling ocean…Sipping a summery cocktail with my love in Portland at one of our favorite lounges, reminiscing about our most memorable summer moments, people-watching, sampling and appreciating aged, sharp local cheeses. We both agree, that by far, summer’s highlight was our family camping trip to Moosehead Lake.As many blooms in my gardens fade there are a few final fireworks, my hibiscus being one of them. I am in love with the rich color, texture, and delicate petals of this exotic flower.

And of course we are enjoying sweet, buttery Maine lobster and steamer evening picnics outdoors and as many refreshing ice cream cone deserts as we can, before the air turns cold.
