We love adventure!… discovering cool places, enjoying nature, meeting new people, and savoring creative + delicious food. Our latest gem of a discovery… the quaint, small town of Jamaica, Vermont, located in the heart of the Green Mountain National Forest that has hiking trails, waterfalls, and swimming holes (a summer stay is in order). We stayed at the Green Mountain Modern House with my family from NYC… my cousin, his husband, and their adorable Boston Terrior, Boomer. An amazing space! Open, minimalist design, retro touches with splashes of color. Hubby loved the little work station in the loft. The house is nestled next to the Ball Mountain River. It adds a peaceful sound backdrop to the experience. The architectural design melds naturally and beautifully with the environment. In town Jamaica was charming. North Country General (a cozy eatery, taproom, and shop with vintage items, wine, local products) was closed for Spring Break/Mud Season as it’s a downhill ski area (I was bummed as it was one of the sights that drew me to the town), BUT… I happened to run into Dean, one of the owners, and he invited me inside, showed me around and allowed me to take photos. A very warm, generous guy. He made my day. My family and I can’t wait to go back and spend more time here. Just look at this place!Cheers, Dean! And thanks again!Colorful, vintage homes in town (the blue one is part art gallery). My daughter and I stumbled upon this little purple house. We’ve already booked our next stay!
