When I was asked by The App Whisperer, the lovely Joanne Carter, to partake in her yearly Mobile Photography/Art New Year Resolutions 2016 From Around the World, I provided her with a short and sweet declaration; one that didn’t focus solely on my art, but on living in general… My 2016 New Year’s resolution is simple, but not necessarily easy to do. My goal is to slow down and be fully present in each moment. That’s it. It’s huge though. If I can achieve that, I will transform my life.
My mantra resounds more like a question in my mind as I experience my day. My heart asks, “Are you fully present?”…
…When I am feeling the energy of the morning sun warming my skin, as I gaze out the window into the snow-covered woods; marveling at the natural beauty that surrounds my home. As I am tasting the rich, golden liquid warmth of the soft-boiled egg my husband made for me, topped with crunchy black lava salt flakes from Cyprus. When I meditate, focusing on each of my chakras, lighting them up with chi, energizing and restoring my body, my heart, my mind. Crafting with my daughter; making mobiles out of colored glass beads and driftwood. Walking along the frozen river near my home, listening to the shifting, cracking, deep guttural sounds of the ice as it forms and moves. Constructing my daily altar; a candle, incense, crystals, my leather-bound journal and mementos. Eating dinner with my family at the table; my taste buds coming alive as I experience varied flavors, my heart and ears open to the conversations, my eyes focused on my loved ones. And of course when I do my life’s work; my art; heart open to the creative process, bringing all that I am inside to the making.

- If you happen to be in Budapest at the end of this month, I invite you to visit the show Body, a juried international photography exhibition taking place at PH21 Gallery from January 21 through February 16, 2016. My iPhone photography will be on display along with photography in a variety of mediums, created by artists from around the globe. You can view the selections here.
- My dear friend Dilshad Corleone, iPhone photographer extraordinaire, has an iBook called Ink Mirrors (Towel Publishing), currently available for free in the iTunes store. The book is filled with Dilshad’s amazing photographic impressions of the London Tattoo Convention, 2015. Watch the teaser. Even if the art of tattooing is not your thing, I think you will enjoy this creative publication. Watch Dilshad talk about the project.
- And a recent mobile digital art piece; a photograph of the woods outside my windows, rendered in a painterly style…
