Maine North Woods Camping — Part Deux

Susan Tuttle PhotographyA week of camping is bound to hold a rainy day or two. We weathered two storms in fact; one that brought a torrential downpour replete with intense thunder and lightning in the middle of the night. Parts of our camp flooded, but inside the tent we stayed completely dry, thanks to my husband’s ingenious overhead tarp set-up that had lots of points for drainage. Now that’s excitement, and something to feel good about as a camper living in the woods for a stretch. I’ve learned that the rainy days of camping should be embraced just as much as the sunny ones. There’s fishing in the rain, for instance… Susan Tuttle PhotographySusan Tuttle PhotographySusan Tuttle PhotographyWe headed into the nearby town center of Greenville as it drizzled, exploring a unique antique/souvenir shop and a candy shop. The sun returned as we selected our “penny” candy! I bought some of those nostalgic wax soda bottle candies, which brought back memories of being in my Nana’s candy store when I was very little.Susan Tuttle PhotographySusan Tuttle PhotographyShe was very proud of this purchase!Susan Tuttle PhotographySusan Tuttle PhotographyUpon returning to the camp we took a refreshing hike, meandering through the forest and alongside Moosehead Lake, stopping countless times to take in one breathtaking scene after another.Susan Tuttle PhotographyI appreciate you stopping by!
