Healing Ourselves

Susan Tuttle PhotographyA few posts back I wrote, albeit somewhat nebulously, about a life challenge I am currently in the midst of. It is not important to share what happened to me, but rather how I am trying to cope and maintain my normally vibrant self as best I can. I am still me inside. And one day my body will catch back up to me. I must admit, I have been failing these past nine weeks. Not being the positive person I normally am. Not picking myself up and dusting myself off. I think the loving Universe got mighty tired of my ways and sent me a vivid dream last night. In the dream, my guardian angel (a dear loved one who passed on when I was a girl) explained to me that I was not learning what I was meant to, due completely to my stubbornness and woe-is-me attitude. I was told I need to stop dwelling so negatively on my condition and stop putting it first before all of the other gifts in my life. If I do that, I will fully heal. Now, I am not one who is new to experiencing miracles, and this dream has reminded me of that and who I am. Today was the first day in nine weeks I actually felt like myself. I was singing, even danced some! And for the first time in so many weeks, I felt joy inside. I need to continue on this way and work really hard to have lots and lots of good days. I am going to heal myself!

Thank you to my husband and kids, family, and my dear friends for all of your support and kind words. Thank you to the readers who have emailed me with caring concern and prayers. You are helping me to see myself in a new light.

Part of my journey involves nurturing my body with lots of healthy, healing foods. I drink chaga tea daily (it has more antioxidants than blueberries) and eat lots of fruits and veg and lean proteins. My dear friend sent me some palo santo which I will burn this evening, to put some healing vibes in the air. I am also cherishing the dream catcher she made me.

A box of books just arrived in the mail for me, filled with reads I can’t wait to dive into. Edwidge Danticat, Jhumpa Lahiri and Chris Bohjalian are some of my most favorite authors and I am very excited to devour their latest books.

If you are on a journey of healing in your life right now, I hope some of this post resounds within you. When something effects me deeply and aims to teach me something, my soul wants to share it. So, I am reaching out to you today in light, expressing what I am learning, and wishing you a successful journey back to good health. It truly is in our own hands. My vivid dream as well as THIS ARTICLE  by Lissa Rankin, MD has really showed me that. Fascinating.
