Connecticut Shoreline

Susan Tuttle PhotographySummer! I hope it finds you doing well. Here in New England we’ve jumped in fully, savoring the sunshine, warm salty air, family, good food, play time and naps. These snapshots were taken on a visit to my Love’s hometown on the Connecticut shoreline. A bunch of family members (13 of us) were about to take a sail on grampy’s new boat. We piled into the launch and were literally drenched by seawater swells as we headed away from the dock out to the boat. Grampy and his three children, all expert sailors, hailed in unison “Go back!” Thank goodness for my jerry-rigged waterproof camera case! Good call on turning back, as we witnessed smaller sailboats capsize one after the other in the heavy wind. What to do if you are ever in that situation? Put your weight on the centerboard, while turning your sail into the wind. The boat should return to upright position. Good to know.
