Romance on the half shell! Last night was our belated Valentine’s Day date at our favorite oyster bar, Eventide Oyster Co., in Portland, Maine. What a luxuriously salty-sweet treat for our taste buds. Each type of oyster has its own unique flavor, depending on the variety of oyster, its habitat, temperature of the water it lives in, etc. We tried raw oysters on the half shell from Maine, Connecticut, Prince Edward Island, and Washington state. My favorite was the Wiley Point oyster from Damariscotta, Maine, while the mister favored the Winter Point oysters from West Bath, Maine. We topped our shellfish with accoutrements, enhancing them with unique, complimentary flavors like horseradish ice, plum sake, and kim chee ice. We paired them nicely with a chilled bottle of French white wine and a basket of fried, smashed fingerling potatoes. Thank you for popping in for a visit! Be sure to come back tomorrow, as I’ll be sharing my next Take Your Photos From Good to Great tutorial — I’ll show you how to add a texture layer to a photograph using Photoshop/Photoshop Elements.
