Taking the Backroads

We went cross-country skiing on trails through the woods, then continued the flavor by taking the backroads home. My lovely husband drove (jumped, yee-haw style) over many a frost heave and made lots of stops for me along the way, so I could capture with my lens all of the beauty I was seeing with my eye. He set the car in reverse multiple times after hearing my ‘eye’ gasp in awe (he hears that sound, puts the car in reverse, and asks me to say “when,” to indicate where he should stop the car). He is getting very good at this maneuver and comes to expect it when I am in the passenger seat with camera in hand. He performs it ever time with a smile on his face and a knowing twinkle in his eye that only I can see. I love this man.
