The air is turning cold, especially in the evenings. I have pulled my favorite woolen sweater from the drawer more than once to keep toasty warm at our outdoor suppers. Extra blankets have been placed on all the beds in our home. The colors and textures of our flower gardens are fading. I can feel them giving their last bursts of joy like a sweet music that makes you both weep and feel happy. Fall flora like joe pye weed, chrysanthemum, pink turtle heads, and the second blooms of roses are the last treasures. My love and I take tours of our gardens throughout the summer, wine in hand, and a delicious hors d’oeuvre waiting for us on the deck. Here are scenes from yesterday’s evening tour…The delicious appetizer waiting for us on the deck was fresh, organic figs with goat cheese and raw honey on multigrain and flaxseed crackers. This is our favorite place to be during summer evenings… Opening my heart to the Fall. Here it comes… XO
