New Year’s Eve :: Portland, Maine

New Year’s Eve adventure! Bundled up all toasty warm, we take our traditional family trip to the big city:) — Portland (Maine that is)! Here’s a country view from the car as we head out of our small town… The next couple of photographs are bound to make you feel a little chilled to the bone, but don’t worry. You’ll be warmed up by the fire in no time…This little guy is Baby. At least that’s what I called him over and over and got him to pose for me. He was quite patient…We shop for steamers (that’s clams) that Beloved and I will munch on later, as we sip champagne and watch the ball drop. If you are ever in Portland, you can find some fish market gems off of Commercial Street right on the harbor, where the seafood comes in fresh, daily. Don’t you adore the vintage Wagoneer?… Time to eat wood-fired pizza, sip a local black stout, and relish an organic salad made of fresh mixed greens, seaweed, beets, goat cheese and a secret recipe dressing that our taste buds have surmised contain raspberry vinegar, orange, ginger, garlic, olive oil, and soy sauce. So delish!…We take an after-dinner stroll through the city’s Old Port to appreciate the festive, twinkling lights and get us some desert! We wonder how on earth they manage to plow snow off of cobblestones?…We find our desert. Candy!!!…Some early revelers are out and about. Time to get home to put the sweet ones to bed and have our own little celebration…Happy New Year Lovelies!! XO
