My morning ritual… time in my studio overlooking the river, painting, smudging, mark-making my way to the wild core of me. Peeling back the layers to raw, real soul that knows nothing, and knows everything. In this communal space where I create, I am surrounded by the fruits of other makers. One of them, Richard Lee, resides on the other side of human experience, but his spirit is felt and his art lives on. His dear friend, a fellow artist in the co-op, is the keeper of his work, which I get to enjoy daily…Spring in Maine, in March. That’s a first; and not necessarily a good thing, environmentally speaking. Despite my worries, I’ve caught the Spring fever bug. I cannot wait to dig, plant, coax and witness the rhythms of growth. The vegetable and herb garden is all planned out, seed packets ordered, and my Love and I and our children are ready to begin.
Art is soul food. Make it. Read books. Watch films. Look. Listen. Taste. Touch. Move your body.
Here’s some goodness that’s been transforming me as of late… You might enjoy it too…
The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake
Baked Fish and Chips and Chocolate Whiskey Cake
Fall, written, produced, and performed by local Mainer, Daniel Taylor. It’s part of his EP that recently hit #6 on the iTunes Top Ten albums chart (ahead of Ed Sheeran). He rose to the top, all on his own. This is thrilling news for independent artists. Inspiration. It can be done! Solo!
And YES, it’s coming… VERY, VERY SOON… my next online, iPhone art course! I can’t wait to unveil it and share it with you! Be the first to know about the launch… subscribe to my newsletter.
